There are times when you think your blessed and there are times when you know!

Today I slept in and when I woke there was a cat's nose pressed against mine. She is what I like to call my feline alarm clock. After a cuddle and some tail scratching J and I decided to rise and go to the 4th of July parade. People were giggling, laughing with excited voices. They walked with their children and baby buggies. Couples holding hands, old, young, every color in the rainbow. I thought of all those other places were people can't settle their differences with words. Where they argue with guns and violence and a child is not safe to play. Were your race or religion is a reason to kill or hate. I am grateful that on this sunny beautiful day people put aside their issues, enjoyed the sun and a parade. I hope one day all the world can be this.

From the beginning. My blank slate became a garden...

From the beginning:

This handsome guy is my husband showing off our Salvia...it began in a one gallon plastic potthe babies at his feet are our next great hopes.
Purple blazing star is a native plant that I have never even seen!
 Deep red gladiolas
Looking down from the drive way...
my first garden by the bedroom window has lilacs and gardenia so when the window is open you smell heaven!
Roses in the foreground hosta in the background...
 light and shadows
morning glories attack! Light purple are native petunias!
the "fence" was hit by a semi-truck...yes I said semi! This is part of what's left!
Dragon's wing rose! Stained glass looking thorns
Humidity and sunlight made this shot.
My 6 buck decoration...a plastic lion sprayed with stone spray paint a 3dollar creeping jenny and a "free" grass spike!
 Dollar store Gladiola!

Now that ground isn't so empty...less to mow!

More Dirty Talk!

Garden soil has been fought over ever since man picked up a spade and broke ground. When I dig a garden bed I have never put the soil right back in as is. Breaking ground is just that breaking the soil up. Removing all the roots, weeds and weed seeds. I usually put that dirt into the composting bin with a lot of garden matter. What I will put into my garden is a combination of the composted soil, leaf mold and garden dirt. Then I add some fertilizer, Epsom salt and you can use moisture gel beads. Mix this well and water it. Now your ready to plant. Selecting plants for your zone, the sun conditions and moisture conditions is important. You want your plants to be happy so chose what you plant and when you plant carefully. Now here is what everyone really wants to see! Pictures of my garden!
