It's raining and I'm looking out the window at my plants in their seed blocks. The first spring rain and the plants that would survive a blast of cold cabbage, Swiss chard, Kale and some "hopeful" Arugula!
IT'S 53* out! Lets hope this is the warming trend of spring. Go way winter! I'm going to be sorting seeds and counting the moments! Got Nasturtium seeds soaking in a mason jar tomorrow rain or shine they go out. Counting my seed packets. I have Asters, Lavender,Hollyhock, Poppy, Candy tuft, Cosmos and Columbine and then the Victory Garden to plant.Just a few weeks ago the Sand Cranes flew overhead with their weird warbling calls on the way north making me hopeful and then the temperature dropped. Sighs...Now an almost warm rain cross your fingers and toes!

Getting started...

After getting an amazing start getting some of my seeds into pots and trays we have another cold spell coming so I'm running for cover. I have trays in my studio, on the floor of the den and in the window sill of the bedroom too! Tonight is supposed to get down to 30 degrees F here in Hot Atlanta. Hopefully the last freeze before spring. The more hardy seed trays are out under my patio table. Radishes, Kale, Spinach, Swiss Chard and Artichokes along with some Persian Buttercups and Day Lilies. I found those at the Everything's a Dollar store...I didn't tell you that! I was keeping it a secret til I see if they actually come up! It's my new treasure hunt! I'm using their metal cookie sheets as trays! They have the boxed seeds. I never had much luck with but the seed packets I hoard. I have been looking for some non-GMO strawberries. I'm haunting Pike's, Home depot and now The Everything's a Dollar store for goodies. I'm also hitting the flea markets looking for heirloom plants and galvanized farm stuff. You know anything that hits my fancy! J and I are having what we call our "We Days" looking for adventures or digging out in the garden. We are getting brave enough to stop when we see an interesting plant, taking photos and asking questions. If you have a great find write me! I would love to hear from you all. Happy Gardening!

So yesterday on a bright sunny Sunday my husband takes me out to breakfast and to the Atlanta Water Gardens, 2165 Cheshire Bridge Road N.E. Atlanta,GA 30324!I am in love and have to go back soon! He decided to take me because I have already potted all my early seeds. We won't have the garden tilled and ready for the plants until next weekend! He decided we need some "We" time. So we went to breakfast at the Landmark Dinner also on Cheshire Bridge which I love! We rambled over to the Water Gardens. I left there with so many ideas I literally vibrated! They specialize in Koi and pondscaping, fountains and statues, Plants and chimes. The kind of garden art people like us dream of, lust for and plot to have! So the plan is to put a small pond in our back yard with the azalea, victory garden and round flower garden. I want a small statue to go down between the trees just past J's hammock and a scattered perennial wild flower garden! Sounds like a lot huh! I'm telling you go there and have a look! You'll leave with a head full of ideas and a shopping bag of things you LOVE. I'm still trying to figure out where to put a waterfall with a huge pond! posting some picts have a look!
